Jitendra M Mandlecha, The backbone and Founder of Turtuk Valley School.

Born and Brought up in Mumbai, Sir had to face a lot of challenges growing up.

He took over his late father’s School - AFAC in Chembur and has been helping the Underprivileged students to get Quality Education and Mentoring. Jitendra Sir has a deep passion for Education and he believes that Education is the only Tool to make a good human being who can then become a Great Citizen of India. He also believes that it is every INDIAN’S core responsibility to give back to our country in whatever capacity one can.

Inspired by our beloved Prime Minister – Shri Narendra Modi, Sir is working towards developing Education in border areas and also in UT Ladakh after revocation of Article 370. On a holiday to Ladakh back in 2017 sir had visited Turtuk and while interacting with the locals of the village and students he realised that the schooling system needs to be improvised. He first started off by helping the students with study materials, then went further ahead and joined hands with the Daughters of Turtuk to open TURTUK VALLEY SCHOOL in 2020. He has not just Supported the students with Quality Education but has also given employment to a lot of young girls from the village.

Turtuk Valley School is a dream project of Mrs. Sarah Shah,(Founding Member) who was born and raised in Banglore. After completing her graduation in Science, Sarah worked for an affluent MNC. Moved by her desire to make Education a practiced reality, she volunteered and worked with the children from the villages of Jammu and Kashmir, before she moved to Ladakh. Sarah started her journey in Ladakh by volunteering in Turtuk by providing winter tutions in 2016. After 6 months, she realised the potential in children and people as they were unbelievably talented, curious, smart and possesed an inherent desire to learn. To actualise this inherent desire, she gave birth to the idea of "TURTUK VALLEY SCHOOL". The school is a commitment to building a safe space in Turtuk to actualise Quality and Continued Education to its children and it's people. After marrying a Ladakhi in 2019, her passion for the people and children of Ladakh developed a thousand folds more and she decided to set up schools under a trust in the remote villages of Ladakh, starting with Turtuk. As a Progressive Educator, it's her dream to bring equal opportunity in education to children through Progressive and Innovative Teaching Practices, that Facilitates and Encourages the Joy of holistic Learning.

Ms. Zainab Bano

Zainab Is a Daughter of Turtuk.

She was Born and brought up in the village where she completed her schooling and moved to Leh to complete her Graduation in Science. Zainab has grown up facing a lot struggles with education as the schooling system were not up to the mark and teachers hardly being there in the school . Looking at all the struggles she had to face, she decided to join hands to start Turtuk Valley School in Turtuk so that the children of Turtuk and neighboring villages do not have to face the struggles in education as she once did. She also wants to empower young women of the village by employing them at the school. Zainab is now a Teacher in Turtuk Valley School and has been researching on innovative ways to teach Math's to the students.

Shafiqa is a Daughter of Turtuk.

Shafeeqa completed her schooling in Turtuk and moved to Leh to complete her Graduation in Bachelors of Arts.

Shafiqa always wanted to be in par with the city kids during her schooling days but due to lack of facilities and low quality of education at the village, she always felt low in confidence . Due to the challenges she had to face, Shafiqa decided to get together with fellow daughters of Turtuk and start Turtuk Valley School. She and the other Co-Founders have over come a lot of challenges in this Journey but her NEVER GIVE UP ATTITUDE has helped the school to SHINE through all the challenges .

Her moto is to BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN THE CITY KIDS AND THE VILLAGE KIDS. She wants to empower kids of Turtuk and surrounding villages with Confidence and Life Skills .
